Skookum Savary
Sunday, June 8th, 2008Skookum Savary, a semi-circular island close to Powell River, has been, by some, Canada’s South Sea Isle. In the summer months this island, undoubtedly offers the warmest water on the West Coast of Canada. This quiet island is also home to one of the largest arbutus trees in BC, taking about 6 people to fully encircle the trunk.
Reachable by water taxi, from the small town of Lund, north of Powell River, Savary proves to be one of British Columbia’s Hidden Gems.
