The family owned and run Strathcona Hotel has been in operation since 1946. We have been hard at work for twenty successful years, thanks in part to the generous recommendations from many hotels and bed and breakfast establishments. Our restaurant is a unique combination of fine dining with a comfortable, casual atmosphere. The menu is diverse, with many specials including vegetarian food, fresh seafood, and wild game. We are proud to utilize as many fresh local ingredients as possible and we prepare our dishes in a health-conscious full flavored style. Craigdarroch Castle in Victoria is a notable Victorian-era manor made up of 39 rooms and is over 20,000 square feet. The castle was built in the 1890s as a family home for the affluent coal tycoon Robert Dunsmuir and his wife Joan. Robert passed away in April 1889, more than a year before construction on the castle concluded. His sons Alexander and James took over the task of finishing the castle after his death.
